Hey, I'm Sophia Roces and I live in the Philippines (: I'm currently a senior at Keystone, and then I'm off to college in New York to study fashion design. I'm pretty much obsessed with the arts. In terms of visual art, I'm really into painting, making fashion sketches (my math notebook has more attire than algebra, really), and dressmaking. Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Degas, Frida Kahlo, and Kathe Kollwitz are some of my favorite artists. Miuccia Prada, Elsa Schiaparelli, Valentino Garavani, and Jany Temime (The Harry Potter movies' costume designer, anyone?) are some of my favorite fashion designers. Otherwise, I dance (ballet and contemporary), play the piano, read, and listen to a ton of music (never not hooked up to my iPod). My playlist? Lana Del Rey, Avril Lavigne, Within Temptation, Epica, and My Chemical Romance, among a million others. x] Somaro is my "pseudonym" that I sign my art with, firstly because it's made of the first two letters of my first, middle, and last name, but mostly because it apparently has a very...comical meaning in Italian ^^

Awful picture that I shall replace soon, but this is my Abstract Expressionism!photo (20).JPG

This is my Pop Art assignment (: I was in Malaysia over spring break, so I decided to create it using batik, or drawing on silk with wax and painting it with really watered-down paint. Controlling the wax is an epic battle, so this didn't turn out very refined! :|photo (18).JPG

Aaaand...this is me "modeling" the outfit (fur shrug, upcycled corset shirt, toile skirt) I constructed at camp last summer, with the corresponding fashion sketch on the left :3 Photo creds to my cousin.Outfit1.jpg

Welp, this is not a self-portrait despite people thinking it was (I don't have blue eyes :c). Acrylic on canvas (:

Heh, another fashion sketch + me modeling this dress with puffed sleeves and a belt, all of which I made at dressmaking class. Photo creds to my cousin.4th Project.jpg
Aaaand this is an acrylic painting I did of a Yanomami (a tribe in the Amazon rainforest) woman. I call it Mechanization, Degradation.Photo 1 copy.jpg
